Obituary

Vivian June (Parker) King, 89 of Scottdale, Kingview, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at her residence. She was born June 10, 1926, at Kingview in Upper Tyrone Township, a daughter of the late William W. and Sarah Emma (Gongaware) Parker, who passed away in 1965 and 1971 respectively. She was married to Jesse B. King Jr., who passed away Jan. 20, 2005. Vivian June was a graduate of Scottdale High School, Class of 1944, joined the Cadet Nurse Corps at the end of World War II and graduated from the Westmoreland School of Nursing in 1947. She was a registered nurse; she performed private duty, served as doctor's office nurse, worked in a nursing home and at Frick Hospital, prior to being employed as a school nurse with the Connellsville School District, where she retired in 1986. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Scottdale, a member of the Everson Senior Citizens, and a former member of the Kingview Ladies Club. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, crafts, reading and doing crossword puzzles. Vivian June will be sadly missed by her loving family: her stepchildren, J. Bruce King and his wife, Susan, of Scottdale, and J. Elaine King, of Connellsville; her step-grandchildren, David King and his wife, Peggie and Amy Allegra and her husband, Joseph, all of Scottdale, and Jenny Hackett and her husband, Jon, of Hartsville, S.C.; and several step-great-grandchildren; her nephews, Robert G. Benson, Donald Benson, Ronald Benson and Richard Benson; and numerous other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her five brothers, Donald, Ronald, Robert and Earl Benson and Carl Parker.
Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring Street, Scottdale (724-887-5300 / www.fergusonfunerals.com / GPS: N40 degrees 06.136, W79 degrees 35.278). Family and friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 1 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Daniel Clark officiating. Chapel committal service and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Bullskin Township, with full military honors bestowed by the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard.
