Virginia May (Rolla) Ridenour, 84, of Scottdale, passed away Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, in the Scottdale Manor and Rehabilitation Center, East Huntingdon Township. Virginia was born May 30, 1932, in East Huntingdon Township, a daughter of the late William and May (Sutor) Rolla. She was married to Herbert L. Ridenour, who passed away Nov. 25, 2004. Virginia was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She graduated from East Huntingdon High School, Class of 1950 and was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Scottdale. She assisted her husband, Herb, in the operations of their business, Westmoreland Manufacturing Co., and was active in the Scottdale community, serving as past president of the Scottdale Woman's Garden Club and a founding member of both the Scottdale Showtime Theater and the Gazebo Park. She also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 383 and enjoyed gardening, her grandchildren, pet dogs and feeding the wild birds! Virginia will be sadly missed by her loving family: her two daughters, Virginia "Ginny" Black, of Scottdale; and her special companion, R. Douglas Kelley and Linda Young and her husband, Michael, of Houston, Texas; her three grandsons, Michael Young and wife, Jennifer, Kevin Black, and Ryan Young and wife, Sara; her great-granddaughter, Adelynn "Addie" Dayle Young; numerous nieces and nephews; and her family of pet canines including, Daisy. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, William, Clyde and Edgar Rolla.
Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, with her pastor, the Rev. Daniel Clark officiating. Chapel committal service and interment next to her late husband will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Bullskin Township.
