Obituary

Violet P. (Nichelson) Ulery, 95, formerly of Wooddale (Bullskin Township), passed away Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, in Harmon House Convalescent Center, Mt. Pleasant. Violet was born April 22, 1923, in Clinton, a daughter of the late George E. and Matilda "Tillie" (Keefer) Nichelson. She was married to Melvin D. Ulery, who passed away April 24, 1998. Violet was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was a longtime member of Scottdale Church of Christ, where she served as secretary of the Co-Strivers Sunday School class. She was also an active member of the Bullskin Senior Center and, years ago, worked as a cook at Howard Johnson's Restaurant in New Stanton and as a sewing machine operator at Norvelt Sewing Factory. Violet loved large family dinners, sewing and quilting, along with growing and caring for her flowers. She mostly loved her family and loved the Lord! Violet will be sadly missed by her loving family: her three children, Beverly J. Collins and her husband Robert, of Scottdale, Bill Ulery and his wife Linda, of Connellsville, and Karen S. Moore and her husband Terry, of Scottdale; her six grandchildren, Tammy S. Pierce and her husband Jerry, of Little River, S.C., Bonnie J. Bell and her husband Donald, of Connellsville, Michael W. Ulery and his wife Kerrie, of Indiana, Michele L. Penney and her husband Thomas, of Flatwoods, Deanna M. Johnson and her husband Jeremy, of Mill Run, and Jason L. Moore and his wife Valerie, of Irwin; her 12 great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Travis Pierce, Brittany Klien, Ian and Brendon Bell, Amber Pierce, Michael and Kyle Ulery, Gage and Tanner Johnson, Brady Penney, and Blake Moore; her eight great-great-grandchildren, Katlyn, Skylar and Jaiden Pierce, and Ethan, Evan, Nathaniel, Adelaide and Logan Bell; her sister, June Nicolo, and her brother, Gay Nichelson and his wife Kathy, all of Bullskin Township; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Nellie Greenawalt, Velma McLean, Verda Lyons and Grace Layman; and four brothers, Merle, Howard, Dale and Reed Nichelson.
Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of ROBERT B.
