Rev. Thomas Snyder Lynn, 92, of Bridgeville, formerly of Liberty, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020, in UPMC Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Thomas was born Aug. 3, 1928, in Liberty, Fayette County, a son of the late Thomas Snyder and Freda (Arison) Lynn.
He married Verna Dean (Lint) Lynn on June 1, 1946, and she passed away on July 12, 2001.
Thomas was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather.
He graduated from Dunbar High School, Class of 1946, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Indiana State University. He was bestowed with a Master of Divinity degree from Westley Methodist Seminary, Washington, D.C., in 1956, and his ministry throughout Western Pa. included pastorates in Centerville, Cookport, Pittsburgh, Mercer, and Baldwin churches. In later years, he was employed as a service representative with AT&T. A faithful member of the First Bethel United Methodist Church in Bethel Park, he enjoyed his family, playing basketball, softball, football, bowling, and serving as a referee.
Thomas will be sadly missed by his loving family: his four children, Diana Jean Berger and husband George of South Park, Ruth E. Lion and husband Thomas of Bridgeville, Freda L. Martin and husband Thomas of Jeannette, and Jeffrey J. Lynn and wife Brenda of Zelienople; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Snyder Lynn III (1998); daughter, Vicki Marie Luttrell (1997); grandchildren, Crystal M. Mackey (1978) and Todd W. Lion (2009); great-grandson, William K. Richards III (2004); and five siblings, Ray Lynn, James Lynn, Wilma Hamm, Pelina Ottenberg, and Leslie Lint.
Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the Ralph E. Galley Funeral Home, 501 Railroad St., Dawson, 724- 529-2611 , www.fergusonfunerals.com . Family and friends will be received from 1-5 p.m. Tuesday, the hour of services, in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Judy Winston Thomas officiating.
Final resting place will be in Dickerson Run Union Cemetery.
