Sandra L. (Ritchie) Solesky, 71, of Scottdale, passed away Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, 2015, in Hempfield Manor, Hempfield Township. Sandy was born June 8, 1943, in DuBois, a daughter of the late Carl W. and Dorothy (Smith) Ritchie. She married John E. Solesky in July 1968. Sandy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She worked as a craft designer for 20 years at the former Gayle Lee's Floral and Craft Shop, Mt. Pleasant, alongside her special friend and floral designer, David Mardis. She also was employed years ago at Robertshaw Controls. Sandy graduated from East Huntingdon High School, Class of 1961, was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Scottdale and was 20-year treasurer and an active member of the Scottdale Women's Garden Club. She enjoyed reading, cross stitching, quilting and doing crafts. Sandy will be sadly missed by her loving family: her husband of 46 years, John E. Solesky; her two children, Leann Steban and her husband, Joe, of Scottdale, and Christopher Solesky, of Ligonier; her two grandchildren, Bailey Marie and Joey Steban; her sister, Carol Ann Thompson, of Scottdale; and her special cousin, Donna "Jeannie" Kerns, of Alvin, Texas.
