Sandra R. (Herbert) Porter, 71, of Scottdale, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, in UPMC Montefiore, Pittsburgh. Sandy was born March 23, 1946, in Connellsville, a daughter of the late Raymond and Barbara (Horwatt) Herbert. She married David A. Porter June 8, 1968. Sandy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a former educator in the Southmoreland School District. A graduate of Connellsville High School, class of 1964, Sandy received her bachelor's degree in education at California University. She was an active and faithful member of Jacobs Creek United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's group. Sandy was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Sandy will be sadly missed by her loving family, her husband of 49 years, David A. Porter; her three children, Barbara Porter Domenico and her husband, Frank, of Mt. Pleasant, Edward Porter and his wife, Tracy of Houston, Texas, and Eric Porter and his wife, Jodi, of Bridgeville; her three grandchildren, Danielle Domenico and Elizabeth and Nathaniel Porter; her sister, Beverly Fazio, of Indiana; her sisters-in-law, Lorraine Herbert and Donna Noel; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Dennis and Randall Herbert; and her brother-in-law, Frank Fazio. P

Family and friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in Jacobs Creek United Methodist Church where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Kim King officiating.
