SANDRA J. "Sandy" (Fertig) PETERSON, 86 of Baden (formerly of Everson), passed away at 11:30 PM October 21, 2023 in Concordia @ Villa Saint Joseph's Care Center, Baden. Sandy was born November 27, 1936 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Fred and Sophie (Wilk) Fertig. She married Gerald Peterson in April, 1976.

Sandy was a loving, devoted, and caring step-mother and step-grandmother and a graduate of Oliver High School and the Florence UTT Business School in Pittsburgh. She was employed at Labor Union #1058 in Pittsburgh before relocating to Mount Pleasant, where she worked at HC Frick Hospital as a biller, retiring after 32 years of service. She and her husband, attended Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Scottdale and she enjoyed playing bingo, bird watching, collecting stamps and cookbooks.

Sandy will be sadly missed by her loving family; her husband of 47 years, Gerald Peterson of Baden; her two step children, Gerald L. Peterson and his wife Karen of Murrysville and Kathy Vecchio and her husband Daniel of Rochester; her five step-grandchildren, Mike Vecchio, Alex Peterson, Angela Vecchio-Kipp, and Matt Peterson, and Katie Peterson; her two step great -grandchildren, Penny Laine and Jude; her niece, Charlotte Ackerly; and her two nephews, Clayton "Butch" Ackerly and Schon Crouse.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her niece, Wendy; her sister, Freda Crouse and her brother. Vincent.

Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 SPRING STREET, SCOTTDALE (www.fergusonfunerals.com).  Family and friends will be received from 4-7 PM Thursday and 10-11 AM Friday in the funeral home chapel where funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday with Pastor Matthew Stabe officiating.
