Samuel O. Thomas, 73, of Vanderbilt, passed away at 7:15 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021, at his residence with his loving family at his side.

Sam was born Aug. 28, 1948, in Connellsville, a son of the late Samuel Robert and Anna Lou (Dowden) Thomas.

Sam was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He was retired from U.S. Steel Clairton Works where he was employed for many years.

He also coached Little League for 16 ½ years.

Sam will be sadly missed by his loving family, his wife, Ruth (Shallenberger) Thomas; his children, Angel Lee Thomas, Samuel and Lisa Thomas of Derry, Michael and Heidi Thomas of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Angela and Peter Kusko of Star Junction, Jessica Thomas and Bo Bonucci of Dunbar, and James Rearick; his grandchildren, Candy, Derek, and Travis Newcomer, Emily, Devin, Jade, Abrahm, Danika, Ivy, Isaiah, Benny, James, and Sarah Thomas; his great-grandchild, Skyline Newcomer; and his brother, Gary Thomas of Pickford, Ala. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Robert Thomas; and his personal assistant, Clifford Colbert.
