Ruth (Thomas) Santmyer, 91 of Greensburg (formerly of Scottdale), passed away at 9 am Thursday, December 24, 2015 in the Greensburg Care Center, Hempfield Township. Ruth was born January 19, 1924 in Dunbar Township, a daughter of the late James Franklin and Martha (Harvey) Thomas. She was married to Eugene W. Santmyer, who passed away on October 6, 1997.
Ruth was devoted mother, grandmother, and caregiver. She was a member of the Salvation Army Church in Greensburg and years ago was employed in the cap division at Anchor Hocking in South Connellsville. She also cleaned at various businesses in the Scottdale area, including the former Ruth Lumber Company and at the Ferguson Funeral Home. As a caring person that she was, Ruth enjoyed feeding birds and contributing to the good of mankind.
Ruth will be sadly missed by her loving family; her son, Ronald E. Santmyer and his wife Pamela of Greensburg; her two grandchildren, Jeffery Santmyer of Greensburg and Jody Bummer and her husband James of Pittsburgh; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, William, Albert Ray, and Robert Lee Thomas; and her four sisters, Gladys Marie Loucks, Helen Belle Wheeler, Dorothy Mae Leasure, and her twin, Ruby Thomas.

Family and friends will be received from 7-9 PM Sunday and 10-11 AM Monday in the funeral home chapel where funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday with Salvation Army Church pastors Lt. Col.
