Ruth Ann Puskar, 90 of Dawson
(Lower Tyrone Township), affectionately known as "Grandma Ruth", passed away at 7:15 PM Friday evening, November 22, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Ruth Ann was born May 27, 1934 in Liberty, a daughter of the late Jesse and Ruth (Humbert) Pratt. She married John J. "Skip" Puskar on April 30, 1960.
Ruth Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. A graduate of Dunbar Township High School, Class of 1953, she was employed at Beighley's Drug Store in Vanderbilt before beginning her life's work, raising her five boys. She was also a longtime and faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Connellsville.
Ruth Ann will be dearly missed by her husband of 64 years, John "Skip" Puskar; her five sons, Jay Puskar and wife Dina of Dawson, Barry Puskar and wife Michele of Dawson, Jeff Puskar and wife Christa of Everson, Jerry Puskar and wife Jennifer of Dawson, and Brett Puskar and wife Amanda of Dawson; her eleven grandchildren, Paige Leonard (Joe), Brooke Doctorick (Marty), Blaire Malone (John), Jonathan Puskar, Nick Puskar (Jessica), Jaylyn Puskar, Austin Puskar, Jacob Puskar, Luke Puskar, Claire Puskar, and Shane Puskar; her five great grandchildren, Henry, Joey, and Cameron Leonard, and Liam Malone; her brother, James "Jim" Pratt and wife Rita of Connellsville; her special sister-in-law, Shirley Slampak; her brothers-in-law, Joe and Paul Puskar; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Pratt; and her sister, Martha Murray.
She loved her family and friends and her home was always open if you wanted to stop by for a visit. For many years, she enjoyed going to the Elks to spend time with her dear friends, Harry "Skinny" and Ann Kring. Her Fourth of July parties were memorable for many and she loved to have the family gathered for Sunday dinners. She enjoyed playing cards and after the table was cleared on Sunday night, the evenings were spent playing 500 bid.
