Roy Calvin Prinkey, 82, of New Stanton, passed away at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2022, in Hempfield Manor, Hempfield Township. Roy was born April 24, 1940, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late Roy Prinkey, of Melcroft, and Alberta (Fulmer) Prinkey Sphon and her husband, Albert, of Warren, Ohio. Roy was a retired employee at ABB Inc., in Greensburg, retiring in 2003, and a veteran of the Navy. He served during the Vietnam War and received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal from Vietnam, the National Defense Service Medal and the First Good Conduct Medal Award. Roy enjoyed playing poker, bowling and horse racing. Roy will be sadly missed by his loving family; his grandson, Josh King; his special nephew, Greg Prinkey, of Jeannette; his siblings, Ginger Farrell, of Arizona, Joseph "Deke" Sphon, of Ohio, Dave Sphon and his wife, Becky, of Ohio, and Kelly Leonard and her husband, Huff, of Indiana; his stepdaughters, Carrie Miller, of South Carolina, and Tracie Miller, of Maryland; his special dear friend and ex-wife, Jean Prinkey Moore, of Tennessee; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Melanie Prinkey King, Aug. 3, 1991; his sister, Connie Steck; and his brothers, Raymond, Paul David, Ronald and Robert Prinkey. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the Mt. Joy Cemetery, where full military honors will be bestowed by the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard. A celebration of life will follow at noon at the Fulmer Family Reunion in New Stanton Park.
