Obituary

Roger Lee Carter, 70, of Wyano, died early Saturday morning, July 2, 2016, in his home, with his loving wife, Ginger, at his side. He was born Aug. 28, 1945, in Arbor Creek, Greene County, the son of the late Harry Leo Carter and Violet D. Phillips Carter. Roger was skilled at many trades and retired as a machine operator from Dana Corporation in Michigan. He was a lifetime member of West Newton Sportsman Club and the Sutersville Moose. He loved to travel, boat and fish, and will lovingly be remembered for his quick wit and endless jokes. In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his sister, Violet Bauer; four brothers, David, Gerald, William and John Carter; and his sister-in-law, Dolly McKeel. He is survived by his dedicated wife of 21 years, Ginger Wood Carter; his children, Roger Lee Carter II (wife, Dana) and Tamara Holmes (husband, Dave), of Michigan; stepson, Scott Wood (wife, Kelly), of Glenshaw; five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a favorite aunt, Olive Temple, of Ohio; a special friend, Sherry Kohuth; as well as numerous other family and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Roger's life will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 7, at Turkeytown VFD, with Pastor Dave Hixson officiating. Private arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, 724-887-5300.
