• Robert A. "Bob" Peebles, 85, of Vanderbilt, passed away at 11:20 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2018 in Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Bob was born Aug. 23, 1932 in Liberty, a son of the late James and Burton (Robertson) Peebles. He married the former Nancy N. Whoric on April 4, 1963.

Bob was a devoted husband and father. He graduated from Dunbar Township High School, Class of 1951. He was a retired foundry worker at Duraloy Blaw-Knox in Scottdale for 30 years. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served as a sergeant 1st Class in the U.S. Army. Bob also served 27 years in the Army National Guard and four years in the Marine reserves. He loved the military. He also enjoyed bowling in the Tri-Scott League.

Bob will be sadly missed by his loving family; his wife of 54 years, Nancy N. (Whoric) Peebles; his son, Robert "Bob" Peebles; his in-law family, Lois, Jack, Joe Lee, Jim and Betty, Bill and Cynthia and Flo; his nephew, David; his nieces, Kathy and Debbie; and his "pals" Joe, Larry, Pete, and his cat, Baby.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harold J. Peebles; his brother-in-law, James McKee; and his sister-in-law, Cheryl Caplan.

Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the Ralph Galley Funeral Home, 501 Railroad St., Dawson (724-529-2611 / www.fergusonfunerals.com). Family and friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Dr. Marvin Watson officiating. Chapel committal service and interment will follow in Dickerson Run Cemetery with full military honors bestowed by the Connellsville VFW Post No. 21. Love Lasts Forever!
