Robert F. "Bob" Fissella, 65, of Scottdale, passed away Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, in the Amber House, Mt. Pleasant, after a brief battle with lung cancer. Bob was born Sept. 12, 1950, in Connellsville, a son of the late Samuel and Estella (Davis) Fissella. He was married to Kathleen A. McCulley Fissella, who passed away March 25, 2006. Bob was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a retired steel worker, employed at Duraloy Blaw-Knox in Scottdale for 35 years and a graduate of Southmoreland High School, Class of 1969. A veteran of the Navy, he served during the Vietnam War on the USS Independence and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Meritorious Unit Commendation. Bob was a member of the Scottdale Sons of Italy 643 and enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Bob will be sadly missed by his loving family: his two daughters, Dana Fissella and her fiance, Mike Santmyer, of Scottdale, and Bobbi Jo Farrell and her husband, Tom, of Mill Run; his three grandchildren, Sydney, Ashton and Nicky; his great-grandchild, Sage Renae; his sister, Virginia Sherbondy and her husband, George, of Everson; his three brothers, Victor Fissella and his companion, Gladys, of Stroudsburg, James "Muggs" Fissella and his wife, Barb, of Connellsville, and Frances Fissella, of Connellsville; and several nieces and nephews. A eulogy service followed by full military rites will be bestowed by the Scottdale-Everson Funeral Detail at 6 p.m. Sunday.
