Robert Campbell "Chalky" Clark, 94 of Scottdale, passed away at 6:35 PM Friday, February 8, 2019 in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, surrounded by his loving family. Chalky was born July 30, 1924 in East Huntingdon Township, a son of the late John Lloyd and Mary (Campbell) Clark. He married Gwendolyn "Gwen" (Ruth) Clark on February 18, 1956 and she passed away on August 10, 1980.
Chalky was a devoted father and grandfather. He worked for 40 years in the Carpenter's Union, retiring from the former Ross & Kennedy Corporation, Pittsburgh in 1986. Chalky was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church in Scottdale and a graduate of Scottdale High School, Class of 1942. He proudly served as a carpenter's mate 2nd Class in the US Navy during WWII on the USS Monterey aircraft carrier with the late President Gerald Ford throughout the Pacific campaign. He was a member of the Brookman-Hernley VFW Post #7781 and the Thomas A. Lewellyn American Legion Post #240, both in Scottdale and was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman, who enjoyed fishing at his favorite place, Deep Creek Lake with family and friends including the late Leo and Pearle Firestone. If you were up early enough, you could spot him and Leo casting their fishing lines!
Chalky will be sadly missed by his loving family; a loving dad to his three children, Cindy Clark King and her husband Michael of McKees Rocks, Dr. Robert "Bob" Clark and his wife Donata of Rostraver Township, and Richard "Rick" Clark and his wife Vicki of Mt. Pleasant; a proud pappy to his grandchildren, "Princesses" Peyton and Ashton Clark (XOXO) and Daniel and Ava O'Brien; his two sisters, Maryann George of 29 Palms, CA and Patricia Harris of Belle Vernon; his brother, Dean Clark and his wife Judy of New Stanton; his sister-in-law, Mabel Clark; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Wilda Oswald and Nancy Shupe; his two brothers, John L. Clark Jr. and Jay Clark; his brothers-in-law, Gene Oswald, Herman Shupe, Jim Harris, and JC George; and his sister-in-law, Nancy Clark.
Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 SPRING STREET , SCOTTDALE ( 724-887-5300 / www.fergusonfunerals.com / GPS: N40 degrees 06.136, W79 degrees 35.278). Family and friends will be received from 2-8 PM Tuesday and from 12-1:30 PM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel where funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday with his Pastor, Kathy Barnhart officiating. Graveside committal service and interment will follow in Scottdale Cemetery with full military honors bestowed by the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard.
