Obituary

Ricky E. "Rick" Hull, 73, of Normalville, passed away at 11:41 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at his daughter's residence in Scottdale.

Rick was born Oct. 24, 1947, in Normalville, a son of the late Woodrow and Hazel (Porterfield) Hull.

Rick was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He was employed as a telephone installer with Denver & Ephrata PA Telephone Company for 19 years and previously worked at the Laurel Highlands Telephone Company. A graduate of Connellsville Area High School, Class of 1967, he served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1967-1971. Rick enjoyed fishing, hunting, his John Deere tractor, and raising chickens. He was also a member of the Normalville Senior Citizens.

Rick will be sadly missed by his loving family: his three daughters, Sherri Kurutz and husband JP of Scottdale, Melissa Showman and husband Ken of Normalville, and Dianna Shipley and husband Lonnie of Rockwood; his seven grandchildren, Damon, Dylan, Derek, John, Devan, Stormie, and Shelby; his nine great-grandchildren; his siblings, Ruth Anderson and Howard of Connellsville, Martha Richter and Russell of Normalville, Everett Hull of Marietta, Ga., and John Hull and Margaret of Normalville; his sister-in-law, Myrtle Hull; his brother-in-law, Arthur Pritts; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Lorraine "Pungie" (Layman) Hull; his son, Ricky E. Hull Jr. (1980); his three brothers, Paul, George, and Kenneth Hull; his sister, Bonnie Pritts; and his two sisters in-law, Jean and Nancy Hull.

Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, 724-887-5300, www.fergusonfunerals.com . At the request of the decedent, there will be no viewing or visitation. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hillview Cemetery.
