Richard K. "Seor" Evans, Jr. Beaver Falls, PA Richard K. "Seor" Evans, Jr., 82, of Patterson Heights, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 in Good Samaritan Hospice. Born September 24, 1933 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Richard K. Sr. and Agnes Maroney Evans. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in New Brighton. He graduated from South Hills High School and received his undergraduate degree from Penn State University. He received his Masters Degree from Duquesne University and did postgraduate studies at the University of Madrid. He also studied several summers in Guadalajara and Saltillo in Mexico. He began his 40 year teaching career in Connellsville and went on to teach at Big Beaver Falls High School, where he established a 5-year Spanish program. He completed his career at both Geneva College and Penn State Extension. While at Geneva College, he initiated and supervised a Beaver County Language Day as Head of the Language Department, which was open to all foreign language high school teachers and students. Over his lifetime, he traveled extensively, reaching four continents. Further, he had taken many of his students on school trips to Mexico, Spain, Guatemala, Costa Rico, and Paraguay. He was a beloved teacher, mentor, and personal friend of students and their families that lasted a lifetime. He taught several generations of students and was an avid and loyal Penn State fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Katherine "Kay" Hollis Evans: a daughter and son-in-law, Julia and Matthew Chaney, Beaver Falls; a son, Richard K. Evans III, Milan, Ohio; four grandchildren, Fiona Chaney, Joseph Chaney, Brian Evans, Jacob Evans; a brother, Leslie Evans; a sister, Agnes Stupar; many nieces and nephews; and two longtime best friends, Samuel Contino and John DiLeonardo. Friends will be received Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home, www.hillandkunselman.com., 3801 Fourth Avenue, Beaver Falls. There will be an additional visitation on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Robert Ferguson Funeral Home, 105 Spring Street, Scottdale, PA. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Robert Ferguson Funeral Home, Rev. John Park officiating. Interment will follow at Scottdale Cemetery.
