Reta G. (Clegg) Suter, 77, of Ruffsdale, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016, in Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Reta was born Nov. 7, 1938, in New Martinsville, W.Va., a daughter of Gladys O. (Baxter) Clegg, of Moundsville, W.Va., and the late Clarence E. Clegg. She married Joel B. Suter on Jan. 19, 1973. Reta was a devoted wife and a retired educator, teaching at Turkeyfoot Valley School District and retiring from Connellsville Area School District. She was a graduate of Magnolia High School in New Martinsville, W.Va., and received a BA degree in education from West Virginia University. Reta was a longtime and faithful member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Scottdale and an active member of the fellowship class. She was also a member of the Saturday Afternoon Club and enjoyed oil painting, gardening and spending time with her dog, Max. Reta will be sadly missed by her loving family: her husband of 43 years, Joel B. Suter; her mother, Gladys O. (Baxter) Clegg; her brother, Raymond Clegg and his wife, Bonnie, of Caldwell, Ohio; and several nephews and nieces, Nathan, Daniel and Matthew Westfall, Heather Blake and Hillary Hess. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Westfall; and her father and mother-in-law, Quintin and Margaret (Sherbondy) Suter.
