Rebecca Sue "Becky" (Tarr) Smalley, 68, of Scottdale, passed away at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2022, in Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Becky was born May 27, 1953, in Mt. Pleasant, a daughter of the late F. Eugene and Virginia E. (Meason) Tarr, who passed away in 2010 and 1989 respectively. She married Gregory Smalley March 15, 1997, and he passed away April 23, 2017. Becky was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She graduated from Southmoreland High School, Class of 1971, and received her Master's degree in elementary education from California State University. Becky was employed as an educator with Southmoreland School System for 36 years, teaching elementary education. She was a lifelong and faithful member of the Pilgrim Presbyterian Church (formerly the 1st Baptist Church) in Scottdale, and enjoyed gardening, traveling and vacations especially to the beach! Becky will be sadly missed by her loving family; her two children, Perry "PJ" Spires and his wife, Melanie, of Mt. Pleasant, and Emily Gigliotti and her husband, Nathan, of Everson; her five grandchildren, Mia Gigliotti, Owen Spires, Lily Spires, Olivia Gigliotti and Julia Gigliotti; her stepdaughter, Tara Stage and her husband, Charles, of Upper St. Clair; her two brothers, Jack Tarr and his wife, Mary Jane, and Fred Tarr and his wife, Terri, all of Scottdale; and her nieces and nephew, Robyn Lippert and husband, Keith, Jennifer Schaeffer and husband, Jeff, Faith Tarr and Nick Tarr and wife, Stacie; and her special "forever friends", Melissa Farrell and her daughters, Zoe, Quinn and Rory. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marian Harper (2008) and her brother-in-law, Robert Harper. Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, ( www.fergusonfunerals.com ). Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel. Additional viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the Pilgrim Presbyterian Church, Scottdale, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Dale White officiating. Graveside committal service and interment will be in Scottdale Cemetery next to her late mother. Love Lasts Forever!
