Raymond Koshara, 87, of Ruffsdale, passed away at 1:04 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015, in Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Raymond was born Dec. 5, 1927, in Morewood, a son of the late Steve and Catherine (Wilczynski) Koshara. He was married to Josephine (Hileman) Koshara, who passed away Jan. 31, 2015. Raymond was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a retired steelworker, employed at U.S. Steel's Clairton Works for many years. He was Catholic by faith and years ago was active at the Scottdale Sons of Italy Lodge. A veteran of World War II, he served as a private in the Army's 301st Holding Co. Raymond also enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. Raymond will be sadly missed by his loving family: his four children, Raymond Koshara, of Smithton, Donna Stynchula, of Greensburg, Susan Koshara, of Ruffsdale, and Deborah Steiner, of Midlothian, Va.; his five grandchildren, Megan White and husband, Jason, Kristi Nunamaker and husband, Jeremy, Brandy King, and Joshua and Amanda Kunkle; his two great-grandchildren, Max and Mason White; his sister, Marie Ozoroski, of Everson; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Kunkle (June 22, 2013); two sisters, Virginia Szaronos and Florence Vargo; three brothers, Steve, Michael and Eugene Koshara; and an infant brother, Walter. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel where a funeral liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
