Rachel Eileen (Stants) Baird, 77, of RuffsDale (South Huntingdon Township), passed away at 4:10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. Rachel was born April 5, 1943, in Mt. Pleasant, a daughter of the late Wendell L. and Dorothy J. (Leasure) Stants. She married William Duane Baird on Aug. 3, 1963. Rachel was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She graduated from South Huntingdon High School, Class of 1961 and was employed for 39 years as an order entry clerk for the Mennonite Publishing House in Scottdale. Rachel was a longtime and faithful member of Fairview Church of God and enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, camping, and doing crafts. Rachel will be sadly missed by her loving family: her husband of 57 years, William Duane Baird; her two children, Becci E. Miller and husband, Dave, of RuffsDale, and Bill "Smokey" Baird and wife, Anita, of Richeyville; her three grandchildren, Kisiah Walters and husband, Nick, Carlie Peternal and husband, Ben and Garrett Poland; her two great-grandchildren, Kassidie Kozar and Connor Walters; her brother, Wendell Stants, of Las Vegas, Nev.; her two sisters, Jane Sprinkle and husband, Jim, of Scottdale, and Kathleen Brown, of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Racheal Ladisic (2019); and her niece, Kathleen Brown Florian. Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale ( 724-887-5300 / www.fergusonfunerals.com / GPS: N40 degrees 06.136, W79 degrees 35.278). Family and friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, with Pastor Scott Leichliter officiating. Chapel committal service and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Bullskin Township. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the family. Love Lasts Forever!
