Obituary

Phyllis L. Slonecker, 85, of Scottdale, passed away at 12:16 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, in Scottdale Manor and Rehabilitation Center, East Huntingdon Township.

Phyllis was born Oct. 10, 1933, in Corbettown, a daughter of the late Percy C. and Elsie Mary (Lucas) Copenhaver, who passed away in 1982 and 1956, respectively.

Phyllis was a graduate of Scottdale High School, Class of 1951, and was a longtime and faithful member of Pennsville Baptist Church. She worked for many years as a clerk at McCrory's 5 and 10 and Troutman's. Phyllis also was a caregiver for the elderly, providing care at Lafayette Manor in Uniontown. She enjoyed quilting, crafts, bingo, and listening to live music; just recently, she attended a community performance of Wally Gingers in the funeral home.

Phyllis will be sadly missed by her loving family: her husband, Kenneth D. Slonecker; her three children, Kevin Slonecker and wife Peggy of Bullskin Township, Kimberly Slonecker of Connellsville, and Sharon Jackson (Jack) of Farmington; her four grandchildren, Jeremy Savage, Angela and Andrew Jackson, and Brittany Slonecker; her two great-granddaughters, Abby Levinson and Sarah Mikolowsky; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two infant daughters and all of her siblings: brother, Robert C. Copenhaver; and six sisters, Kathryn Suhan, Mary Nicholson, Betty De- Witt, Ruth Bradley, Helen Jones, and Margaret Bain.

Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the Robert B. Ferguson Funeral Home, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, 724-887-5300 , www.fergusonfunerals.com . Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday and from 10-11 a.m. Friday, the hour of service, in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Terry Murray officiating.

Graveside committal service and interment will follow in Scottdale Cemetery.
