Obituary

Phyllis Ann (Fretts) Keffer, 87, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017, in Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Phyllis was born June 12, 1929, in Scottdale, a daughter of the late Albert C. and Ruth Jane (Stoner) Fretts. She was married to William Kenneth "Ken" Keffer, who passed away Nov. 12, 1987. Phyllis was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was a longtime and faithful member of Dawson Baptist Church. Phyllis was noted for her homemade bread, noodles and enjoyed playing bingo, crafts, reading and doing needlework. Years ago, she was employed at Kraisinger's Market, Montgomery Wards and Linden Hall. She was a graduate of East Huntingdon High School, Class of 1947. Phyllis will be sadly missed by her loving family; her two sons, Jerry Keffer and his wife, Jan, and Jeffrey Keffer; her two daughters, Kendra McBeth and her husband, Jack, and Kathy Overly; her seven grandchildren, Samantha Riggs, Keri Keffer (Rick), Dusty McBeth (JP), Joshua McBeth (Jen), Ashley Overly, Tricia Keffer and Toni Fox; her two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Riggs and Connor Krozel; her sister, JoAnne Miller; her sisters-in-law, Terry Fretts, Judy Keffer, and Wilda Keffer; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her two sons, David Ray Keffer and William K. Keffer Jr.; her two grandchildren, Stephanie Anne and Matthew David Keffer; her sisters, Pauline Fox (Emerson), Dorothy Harbarger (Archie), Sara Jane Stants (Emory), Edna McKnight (Jess), Janet Beal (Toad) and Nancy Gelet; her brothers, AJ Fretts (Ann) and Ralph Fretts; her sisters-in-law, Blanche Christner (Bill) and Eva Cox; and her brothers-in-law, Robert "Peep" Miller, Dave, Don and Ralph Keffer (Roberta). Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale (724-887-5300 / www.fergusonfunerals.com / GPS: N40 degrees 06.136, W79 degrees 35.278). Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m., with Pastor Bonnie King officiating.
