Obituary

Paul H. Collins, 92

of Scottdale passed away peacefully Friday, January 10, 2025 at his home.  Paul was born on February 1, 1932 in Connellsville, a son of the late Paul W. and Clara Catherine (Oakes) Collins. He married Ardith J. (Hough) Collins on June 10, 1955.

Paul was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a graduate of the former Scottdale High School, Class of 1950 where he participated in the school's baseball team, receiving many awards! It was the start of his love for sports, including the Pirate and Steeler games. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving as a Gunnery Sergeant in the US Army's Mike Company, 23rd Regiment's 2nd Division. He was awarded the United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the Army Good Conduct Medal. After an Honorable Discharge, he was employed at General Motors Fisher Body Division for 2 years and then worked at the former Allied Mills/Continental Grain in Everson, retiring after 34 years of service. He was a longtime member of the Tetelestai Church in New Kensington. An avid hunter and sportsman, he enjoyed his cabin in Potter County with family and friends. His storytelling was always present, no matter what the Conversation. Paul loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. His memories will remain in their hearts forever!

Paul will be sadly missed by his loving family; his wife of 69 years, Ardith J. (Hough) Collins; his five children, Pastor Stan Collins (Karen) of Argentina, Pam (Collins) Zelenka (Randy) of Scottdale, Jeff Collins (Karen) of Alverton, Lisa (Collins) Kaylor of Cheswick, and Kevin Collins (Jeananne) of Scottdale; his seven grandchildren, Luke Kaylor (Mandee), Ryan Zelenka (Esa), Stephen Kaylor (Julie), Mara (Collins) Intrieri (Frank), Christa (Kaylor) McIntyre (Danny), Rachel (Zelenka) Prutz (Alex), and Anna Collins; his great grandchildren, Dakota, Hannah, Jake, Kendyll, Cooper, Mack, Miami, MaKenna, Cash, and Brooks; and his step great grandchildren, Ellie, Sophia, Brandon, and Lydika. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Kaylor; and his step grandson, Eric Coffman.

Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 SPRING STREET, SCOTTDALE (www.fergusonfunerals.com).
