Patricia Ruth (Porter) Pletcher, 90 of Uniontown, passed away at 10:40 AM Tuesday, June 23, 2015 in Mt. Macrina Manor, Uniontown where she had been a resident for the past month. Pat was born August 22, 1924 in Scottdale, a daughter of the late John Donald and Lulu (Gallentine) Porter. Surviving are her son, James E. Pletcher Jr. and his wife Judy Pletcher of Uniontown, with whom she made her home since 2010 and a number of nieces and nephews. Pat was the wife of the late James E. Pletcher who she married on December 5, 1942 and celebrated 65 wedding anniversaries before his death on April 19, 2008. Pat was also preceded in death by her sister, Janet Porter Banks and a son, John D. Pletcher on March 2, 2001 whose widow, the former Susan Henderson survives. Pat was a housewife and homemaker until she began working as a nanny to James Richard Ray Werkman of Scottdale. She later joined Laurel Group Press in Scottdale as a proof reader and compositor, a position she held for more than 14 years. Pat had many pastimes including area auctions searching for antique furniture when she was a young married woman and mother. She furnished her home with what she collected and refinished and her purchases were made using household money. Pat was a member of the former Scottdale Art Club and exhibited some of her paintings through that organization. Upon retiring, she and her husband moved to Stahl Road near Somerset where they lived for 25 years. In her retirement, she worked for two local gift and craft shops where she displayed and sold some of her own handicrafts. She was known for her home decorating skills and was a voracious reader. Pat formerly attended the Trinity United Methodist Church in Scottdale where she served as a youth leader and managed a monthly submarine sandwich sale and other youth activities. She later became a born again Christian. Pat also loved animals and will be missed by her cat, Sammy. Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B.
