Obituary

Patricia Ann Callaghan, 88, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, in Brookshire, Texas. She was born March 30, 1934, in Connellsville, a daughter of the late George and Evelyn Chain Roth. She was a lifelong resident of Scottdale before her move to Texas two years ago. A parishioner of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Patricia graduated from Scottdale High School in 1953 and married Ronald D. Callaghan in 1955. She was a devoted wife and mother to their two children, Sharon and Dale, spending her family years serving as a Girl Scout leader, volunteering at the Scottdale Library and assisting with the St. John's Catholic Youth Group. She also participated in the Bullskin Township Senior Center, was a member of Scottdale Showtime Inc. and drove for the Meals on Wheels program. Patricia was very proud to have played in a card group with her high school friends for more than 50 years. She was also an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan. Many will remember Patricia from her many years as an Avon sales representative in the Browntown area of Scottdale. She also worked as a secretary at C&C Lumber in Tarrs for 20 years. Patricia will be sadly missed by her daughter, Sharon, and her husband, Keith (Skip) Leonard, of Weston Lakes, Texas, her daughter-in-law, Mary Sue (Patrilla) Callaghan, of Mt. Pleasant, and her two grandsons, Brian Leonard and his wife, Marijane, of Menlo Park, Calif., and Scott Leonard and his wife, Melissa, of Fulshear, Texas. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren whom she greatly enjoyed spending time with, Elizabeth, Tyler, Payton, Jordan and Camryn. In addition to her parents, Patricia was predeceased by her husband of 33 years in September 1988, her son in December 2020, her sister, Janet Roth Coppetti, in October 2013, and her niece and goddaughter, Theresa Coppetti Garlick, in March 1986. Because of the family's three generation commitment and service to the town's fire department, the family requests any memorial donations be directed to the Scottdale Volunteer Fire Department New Truck Fund, P.O. Box 73, Scottdale, PA 15683. A celebration of life Mass will be held at 11 am Tuesday, March 14, 2023 in the Partner Parish of Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Scottdale with Rev Father Elmer Alforque as celebrant. Final resting place will be in Green Ridge Memorial Park next to her late husband. Love Lasts Forever!
