Ola M. Smouse Lute, 93, of Scottdale, passed away at 7:50 a.m., Sunday, July 26, 2015, at her residence. Ola was born April 26, 1922, in South Huntingdon Township, a daughter of the late Peola Sheppard and Ola (Hudspath) Markle. She was married to William N. Smouse, who passed away Oct. 27, 1968, and to Harry Lute, who passed away in 1995. Ola was a devoted mother, grandmother, great- and great-great-grandmother. Years ago, she was employed as a baker in the cafeteria department for East Huntingdon and Southmoreland School Districts and also worked for U.S. Steel's Christy Park Works. Ola was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and the Everson Senior Citizens. She took enjoyment taking bus trips with her dear friends. Ola will be sadly missed by her loving family; her three sons, George Smouse and wife, Angie, of Mt. Pleasant, William Smouse and wife, Sandy, of Smithton, and R. Edward Smouse, of Scottdale; her three stepdaughters, Maxine DeFlitch, Judy Graft and Linda Lute; her seven grandchildren, Dave Smouse and wife, Kristina, Melissa Wendell and husband, Dave, Samantha Smith and husband, Matt, Joshua Peterson, Kimberly Hixson, Lynn Ann Eicher and husband, Brian, and Christie Smouse and partner, Rachel Pisarek; her 14 great-grandchildren; her five great-great-grandchildren; numerous stepgrandchildren; her two sisters, Evelyn Bobbs, of West Newton, and Allie Markle, of Mt. Pleasant; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, her first husband and her second husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Dean Smouse (2001); three sisters, Alberta Mauk, Anne Lassalle and Betty Keck; five brothers, Vernon, Glenn, Wayne, Alvin and Clyde Markle; and her pet cat, Zoe. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Bonnie King officiating.
