Norman William Geary, 88, of Lower Tyrone Township, Dawson,. passed away May 28, 2021, at his residence. Norman was born Nov. 17, 1932, in East Huntingdon Township, a son of the late Amos H. And Harriet M. (Hemminger) Geary. He married Harriet Lucille (McMinn) Geary on Nov. 25, 1961.
Norman was a lifelong member of the Tyrone Presbyterian Church and a graduate of Dunbar High School, Class of 1952. He retired from U.S. Steel and the Aristech Chemical Co. Norman was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict on the USS Steinacker. He loved farming and over the years raised horses, beef, ducks, and Pygmy goats. At one time, he served as Justice of the Peace in Lower Tyrone Township and was also a 4-H leader.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded death by his first wife, Shirley M. (Bryner) Geary; his brother, Harold F. Geary; and his sister-in-law, Edna (Shallenberger) Geary. Norm will be sadly missed by his loving family, his wife of 59 years, H. Lucille (McMinn) Geary; his children, Cindy Hyatt and husband David, Kenneth W. Geary and wife Colleen,and Pamela S. Geary; his five grandchildren; his six great-grandchildren; his two step-grandchildren; his brother,
Ronald C. Geary; and his sister-in-law, Pauline Geary.
Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 SPRING ST., SCOTTDALE ( 724-887-5300 / www.fergusonfunerals.com ).
Per Norm's request, there will be no viewing. Private services were held at the convenience of the family. Burial took place in Greenlick Cemetery with full military honors bestowed by the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to a charity of ones choice. Appreciation is extended to: Pastor Lee Maley, Amedysis Hospice, especially Sharon, Sandy, Jody, and Dr. Paul Means. Love Lasts Forever!
