M. Earl Ansell, 101, of Scottdale (Upper Tyrone Township), passed away at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, at his residence. Earl was born near Owensdale on June 25, 1920, a son of the late Martin Harry and Gertie (Prinkey) Ansell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace (Hone) Ansell on Sept. 5, 1998; his brother, Clifford Ansell; and his sister, Eva Jean (Ansell) Hardwick.
Earl was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He owned and operated the Ansell Coal Business for close 70 years prior to retirement and was a lifelong and faithful member of the Owensdale United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday school teacher. Earl graduated from Scottdale High School, Class of 1937 and enjoyed gardening.
Earl will be sadly missed by his loving family, his wife of 21 years, Frances (York) Ansell, whom he married April 29, 2000; his two sons, Robert Lee Ansell and Ronald Ray Ansell, both of Owensdale; his two daughters, Joyce (Ansell) Severovich of Houston, Texas and Judy (Ansell) Lawrence and husband Jamie of Pittsburgh; his three grandchildren, Janny Ketchel Sharp and husband Robert of Washington DC, Justin Ketchel and wife Lauren of Pittsburgh, and Stacy Severovich of
Houston, Texas.
