Obituary

Mary Elizabeth "Liz" (Crossland) Herbert Lima, 90, of Vanderbilt, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, in Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Liz was born April 3, 1927, a daughter of the late Clark and Sarah Ann (Lint) Crossland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack M. Herbert (Nov. 6, 1996); her second husband, Donald R. Lima (Oct. 16, 2017); her brothers, Amzi and Tim Crossland; and her sisters, Carrie Ruffcorn, Amy Grace Keffer and Maude Patterson. Liz was a devoted mother and grandmother. She graduated from Dunbar Township High School, Class of 1945, and was employed as a clerk in the Vanderbilt Post Office for 20 years. Previously, she worked for 25 years at the former Beighley's Drug Store in Vanderbilt. Liz was a lifelong and faithful member of the Vanderbilt United Methodist Church and a Past Worthy Matron of the Dawson Order of Eastern Star. She lived with a strong, deep faith in God and gave him the credit for all the joys in her life. Liz was also a loving and creative homemaker with a home decorated for every season and family and friends to enjoy it! Liz will be sadly missed by her loving family; her daughter, Pamela A. Wiltrout; her son, Jack E. Herbert; and her grandson, Angelo Ross III, all of Connellsville.
Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the RALPH E. GALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 501 Railroad St., Dawson, 724-529-2611, www.fergusonfunerals.com. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel. Additional viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in the Vanderbilt United Methodist Church, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Dr. Marvin Watson officiating. Chapel committal services will follow in Dickerson Run Union Cemetery.
