Mary Louise Geyer's Obituary
Mary Louise Geyer, 89, of Scottdale, passed away at 6:25 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018, with her loving family at her bedside, at her residence. Mary Louise was born Nov. 6, 1928, in East Huntingdon Township, a daughter of the late Raymond J. and Blanche A. (Murray) McLean. She was married to Donald Ray Geyer Sr., who passed away Dec. 26, 1992. Mary Louise was a devoted and wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was employed for many years at the former Murphy Funeral Home in Scottdale, the H.E. Barclay Jr. Poultry Business in Mt. Pleasant and at Blume's Poultry in Smithton. She then moved on to doing volunteer work in the libraries of Alverton and Ruffsdale Elementary Schools for Southmoreland School District. She volunteered at the Mt. Pleasant Senior Citizen Center for many years, making noodles and helping with meal preparation for delivery. Mary Louise also was involved with the Scottdale Senior Citizen Club and enjoyed time gardening, playing cards and board games with her family. Mary Louise will be sadly missed by her loving family; her six children, Donald Geyer Jr. and wife, Laura, Carl Geyer and wife, Kathy, and Donna Holsopple and husband, Harry, all of Scottdale, Melvin Geyer and wife, Ann, of Mt. Pleasant, Bruce Geyer and wife, Dori, and Joanne Kerr and husband, Dave, all of Scottdale; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her siblings, Samuel McLean, of Normalville, David McLean and wife, Frances, and Homer McLean and wife, Nancy, all of Scottdale; her sister-in-law, Grace McLean, of Smithton; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Ware; her brothers, Raymond and Charles McLean; her sisters-in-law, Velma and Jean McLean; and her brother-in-law, Lucian Ware.
Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, 724-887-5300 , www.fergusonfunerals.com . At Mary Louise's request, there will be no viewing. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel, where a memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Tom Shirer officiating. Final resting place will be in Scottdale Cemetery.
