Obituary

Mary Ann (Koza) Boshinsky, 88, of Everson, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, at her residence. Mary Ann was born Sept. 9, 1929, the first generation in the United States, a daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Sandzimier) Koza, who were originally from Poland. She recently celebrated her 88th birthday, full of happiness. Since then, she had been winding down like a clock to be with the angels (badz'z aniolami) she loved. At the tender age of 13, following her father's death, she was forced to drop out of school to help her mother support their huge family because it was more important for the boys to get their education. This never stopped her from being the wisest person most of us have ever known. Mary Ann cleaned many homes around Everson and the Scottdale area, which included St. Joseph's parochial school and convent for many years. Many a neighbor would see her hanging out of windows, cleaning them so well that it looked like there wasn't any glass. Later, she got a "real job" working as a seamstress at Connellsville Sportswear. She was meticulous about "her yard," weeding and planting flats of flowers well into her 70s. She loved decorating for the holidays, traipsing back and forth from the attic, with everything in their original boxes. Mary loved to gamble, my Dad called her "Bingo Mary" and, up until a few years ago, she would go seven days a week! She also loved bus trips to Atlantic City and the many trips to the Meadows Casino as recently as two weeks ago for her birthday. Anyone walking into her house would see her sitting in "her chair," saying the rosary or novena or working on "her books," Seek and Find books that she worked on endlessly, marking them with the Pilot red pens that she insisted on using. Ever present was a cup of coffee that she kept heating up by adding more coffee or nuking all day long. She loved her sports, especially the Steelers and the Penguins, and you could hear her hollering "wahoo" if anyone scored. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by, and will be reunited with, her husband of 57 years, John G. Boshinsky, who passed away May 28, 2016; her son-in-law, John L. King; her brothers, John, Charlie, Joe, Melvin, Casmir, Frank, Stanley Vincent and Eugene Koza; and her sisters, Nellie Martinoski, Rose Petrilla, and Cil Connors. Mary is survived by her daughter, Michele King and her boyfriend, Gordon Fisher, of Fredericktown; her "boys," John Richard "Richie" Boshinsky and his wife, Linda, and their children, Brian (Michael) and Daniel Boshinsky and Melissa (Nathan) Mains, and Jeffrey Scott Boshinsky and his wife, Amy, and their son, Scotty (Crystal); and the light of her life, great-granddaughter, "Becca". Also surviving are her sister, Dolores Surma, of Mt. Pleasant, who called her every day; her brother, Marion (Regina) Koza, of Ohio; her sisters-in-law, Eileen Koza, of Ohio, Louise Koza, of Arizona, and Mary Jane (Stanley) Dombrosky, of Mt. Pleasant; tons of nieces and nephews, including special niece, Carol Wisnewski; and good friends, Tom and Ruthie Zwierzelewski and Paul and Denise Garstecki, all of Scottdale.
It was Mary's wish not to have a public viewing, thus, burial will be private. Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, 724-887-5300/www.fergusonfunerals.com.
She would have loved for you to make a donation to her favorite charity: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 591, Memphis, TN 38101-9973 in her honor, or send condolence cards to Michele King, P.O. Box 69, Everson, PA 15631. Either gesture would be appreciated. Dobranoc Marusha. Love lasts forever!
