Martha J. (Eicher) Crabtree, 87, of Scottdale, went home to be with the Lord at Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, in Jo-Ella's Personal Care Home, East Huntingdon Township. Martha was born Nov. 23, 1928, in Connellsville, a daughter of the late Alvie and Cordie (Henry) Eicher. She was married to Earl C. Crabtree for 59 years, who passed away Aug. 18, 2007. Martha was a devoted wife, caring for her husband for 59 years. Martha was also a loving mother and grandmother. A graduate of Scottdale High School, Class of 1948, she was employed for 19 years with Williamhouse and then retiring after 10 years of service from Volkswagen of America at New Stanton. Martha was a longtime and faithful member of the Pennsville Independent Baptist Church, where she sang many years with The Answer Today Trio and was active in the Philathea Sunday School Class. She was the co-founder, along with her sisters, of the 500 Card Club and a member of the Rainbow Girls Bowling League at Yough Lanes. She also enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family and friends taking trips to the Springs Farmers Market, camping, winter trips to Florida with her longtime friends and shopping. Martha loved to cook and, her family will tell you, she was a great cook. Martha will be sadly missed by her loving family; her son, Duane Crabtree and his wife, Cathy, of Scottdale; her two grandsons who she dearly loved, Andy and Adam Crabtree; her sister-in-law, Janet Willard and her husband, Richard, of Ruffs Dale; her brother-in-law, Donald Kooser, of Scottdale; and numerous great and great-great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Clarence and Harry Eicher; and her three sisters, Virginia Kunkle, Sarah Hixson and Delores "Dodie" Kooser. Martha was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel. Additional viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday in Pennsville Independent Baptist Church, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Friday, with Pastors Terry Murray and Robert Bixel officiating. Private interment will be in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Bullskin Township, next to her late husband. Memorials may be made to Pennsville Baptist Church (Youth Group), 3298 Richey Road, Mt. Pleasant, PA 15666. The family extends their appreciation for the outstanding care provided at Jo-Ella's Personal Care Home and to the caring staff, Sheila, Janet, Elsie, Paula, Valerie and Rita and to the Medi-Home Hospice and their staff, nurse, Amy, ,very special nurse's aide, Tiffany, social worker, Leonard, and Chaplain Fred, for their loving and dedicated care.
