Obituary

Marjorie B. "Margie" (Suter) Stoner, 85, of Alverton, passed away at her home on Sunday, July 31, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Margie was born Jan. 15, 1931, in Ruffsdale, a daughter of the late Quinten and Margaret (Sherbondy) Suter. She married E. Richard "Dick" Stoner on Jan. 22, 1950, and resided with him and her children on the Stoner farm in Alverton until 2007, at which time they moved to a home on some land close by. He preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 2014. Margie was a longtime member of the Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church and became a member of the Women's Fellowship Class, taught Bible classes and helped maintain the church. She was a prominent figure in preparing for all the social events, dinners and the strawberry festival. Margie also served as church treasurer for many years. She also faithfully served as an official on the election board, working the Stoner Precinct at the East Huntingdon Fire Department station at Alverton. Her loves were her husband, her children and their families while her interests involved flower gardens, baking and growing strawberries. Her strawberry jelly was a favorite of all her grandchildren. Margie had five children, Kathy Null and her husband, Jeffrey, of Latrobe, Karen Collins and her husband, Jeffrey, of Alverton, Thomas Stoner and his wife, Kristen, of New Alexandria, and Frank Stoner and his wife, Charlotte, of West Chester, and her late son, Kerry Stoner, who passed away June 2, 1993. She is also survived by her seven loving grandchildren, Eric Coffman, Christopher Null and his wife, Lisa, Jennifer Strimel and her husband, Jason, Annabelle and Nathaniel Stoner and Zachary and Miles Stoner; and her two great-grandchildren, Olive Elizabeth and Oscar William Null. Her surviving siblings are Gene Suter and his wife, Martha, Joel Suter and his wife, Reta, and Frances Kintigh; along with many nieces and nephews; and her sister-in-law, Eleanor Suter. In addition to her parents, husband and son, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Don Suter and Quinten "Sonny" Suter Jr.; her sister, Shirley Cramer; and her sister-in-law, Sarah Suter. Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with her neighbor and good friend, Pastor Keith Solomon, officiating.
