Marjorie Jane
Hollis
October 15, 1940 – August 17, 2024
Marjorie Jane (Harris) Hollis
On Saturday, August 17, 2024, surrounded by her adoring daughters, Marjorie Jane (Harris) Hollis, 83 of Scottdale (East Huntingdon Township) went to be with her Lord and Savior and was joyfully reunited with her late husband, B. Edward Hollis, who passed away on January 24, 2001. Margie was born October 15, 1940 in Scottdale, a daughter of the late George Gilbert and Ellen Pearl (Hankinson) Harris and married the love of her life "Eddie" on November 17, 1962.
Margie was the most loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to being devoted to her family, was devoted to Jesus and her church. Her service to the Lord began at the First Baptist Church in Scottdale, serving as Assistant Financial Secretary, Sunday School teacher, deaconess, and member of the church choir for many years. Later in life, she became a proud member of the Mount Pleasant Church of God, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and was active in the Pairs & Spares Sunday School Class. Her absolute favorite volunteer position was serving in thenursery. Margie loved and cared for every baby that was ever placed into her arms, andshe was affectionately known by all as "Grandma Margie". Although Margie enjoyed serving in the nursery, her greatest joy was being grandma to her very own grandchildren: Meghan, Jonathan, and Gretchen. Her joy overflowed when she became a great - grandmother to James, Juniper, Emerson, and Maple.
Margie's smile and generous spirit lit up every room she entered. She never met a stranger. She genuinely cared for every person who crossed her path and she embodied the love of God, being so happy to share His love with others. If she told you she was praying for you, she meant it. Margie was the literal definition of a true Prayer Warrior. She began praying as soon as her feet touched the floor. Next to her bed, Margie kept an 8 ½ x 11 sheet of paper which was filled with names and needs of specific individuals for whom she faithfully prayed each and every day. Truly the love of Jesus shown through her words, actions, and spirit.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Abram C. Wilson, her mother-in-law, Virginia P. Hollis. her father-in-law, Raymond E. Hollis, her brother, Harold Harris, her sister, Helen Nahass, her sister-in-law, Carolyn Shelkey; and her brothers-in-law, Eugene Shelkey, Albert Nahass, and Richard Evans.
Margie will be dearly missed by her surviving family: her three girls, Suzanne E. Messenger (James) of Fairmont, WV, Barbara H. Edwards (John) of Emerald Isle, NC, and Sharon L. Beatty (Rev. Timothy) of White; her three grandchildren: MeghanEdwards Bowyer (John) of Nashville, TN, Jonathan Hollis Edwards (Nicole) of Raleigh, NC, and Gretchen Beatty of White; her four great - grandchildren: James Hollis Edwards, Juniper, Emerson, and Maple Bowyer; and her sister-in-law, Katherine Evans of Milan, OH.
