Louis F. Hixson's Obituary
Louis F. Hixson, 84, of Scottdale (East Huntingdon Township), passed away at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, at his home. Louie was born July 22, 1934, in Donora, a son of the late George E. and Elizabeth Jane (Burkhart) Hixson. He married Gertrude Joan (Stroud) Hixson July 31, 1955. Louie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He worked for many years with his father on the family farm and retired from East Huntingdon Township where he worked as a truck driver. He enjoyed his family and playing solitaire. Louie will be sadly missed by his loving family, his wife of 63 years, Gertrude Joan (Stroud) Hixson; his three children, Terry Hixson, of Mt. Pleasant, Christine Lewellen and husband, James, of Connellsville, and Janie Hawk and husband, George, of Scottdale; his nine grandchildren; his 18 great-grandchildren; his siblings, George Hixson and wife, Glendine, of Florida, Nancy Grimm and husband, Frank, of Scottdale, Marlene Garlowich, of Scottdale, Janet Maney, of Punxsutawney, and Karen Sue Cramer and husband, Joseph, of Scottdale; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Malik; and his brother, Raymond Hixson.
Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale ( 724-887-5300 / www.fergusonfunerals.com / GPS: N40 degrees 06.136, W79 degrees 35.278). Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, with Pastor Robert Bixel officiating. Graveside committal service and interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
