Larry S. Hernley, 70, of Scottdale, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018, in Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Larry was born May 10, 1947, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late Milton and Vivian (Lambing) Hernley. He married Sharon E. Keegan June 7, 1980. Larry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was employed as a supervisor with United Cerebral Palsy in Monroeville for 10 years, and years ago worked at Ceilcote. He was a graduate of Southmoreland High School and attended Westmoreland County Community College and Slippery Rock University. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served as Lance Corporal in the Marines and was awarded the Rifle Marksman Badge, Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Larry enjoyed gardening, travel, golfing and his membership at the YMCA. Larry will be sadly missed by his loving family; his wife of 37 years, Sharon E. (Keegan) Hernley; his son, Randall Hernley and his wife, Shanelle, of Scottdale; and he will be greatly missed by his three grandchildren, Adam, Brenden and Chase, whom he adored. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Joni (Hall) Hernley, Raymond Keegan and wife, Diane Whipkey-Keegan, Mary Eamon and husband, Doug, Thomas Keegan, Martin Keegan and wife, Ellen Fisher, and Rose Ann Matthews; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sherri Murray, (Feb. 15, 2000); his brother, Jacques "Jock" Hernley (Jan. 17, 2011); his niece, Heather Coleman (Nov. 25, 2009); and his nephew, Nicholas Hernley (Aug. 27, 2002).

A celebration of life visitation will be held for family and friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel followed by full military rites bestowed by the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard.
