Kermit D. Roth, 79, of Scottdale, passed away Thursday afternoon, Feb. 8, 2018, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. Kermit was born Feb. 23, 1938, in Goshen, Ind., a son of the late Issac and Leta (Phillips) Roth. He was married to Shirley Ann (Swartzendruber) Roth, who passed away on March 13, 2014. Kermit was a devoted father and grandfather. He retired from the Mennonite Publishing House in Scottdale with over 43 years of service. Kermit was a faithful member of Scottdale Mennonite Church, a graduate of Goshen High School, and Goshen College with a degree in accounting. He was a member of the Goshen College basketball team and was noted for his two-handed set shot! Kermit served as the secretary of the Heritage Investment Club and enjoyed gardening, working on the computer, and watching sports. Kermit will be sadly missed by his loving family, his three children, Timothy Roth and his wife, Robin, of Scottdale, Ronald Roth, of Smithton, and Laura Howard, of Colorado Springs (Keith Howard, deceased); his six grandchildren, Tyler, Jenna, Emily, Simone, Marcus, and Joi; and his brother, Robert Roth, of Goshen. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Steven Roth. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Regional Family YMCA, 490 Bessemer Road, Mt. Pleasant, PA 15666, would be appreciated.
Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale (724-887-5300). Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, and 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, in the funeral home chapel, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, with Pastor Mark Peachy officiating. Graveside committal service and interment will follow in Pennsville Mennonite Cemetery.
