Kenneth D. Slonecker, 90 of Connellsville (Bullskin Township) passed away at 10:21 PM Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at his residence. Ken was born September 26, 1932 in Acme, a son of the late Charles Leroy and Maggie A. (Snyvely) Slonecker. He was married to Phyllis (Copenhaver) Slonecker who passed away on April, 2019.
Ken was a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather. He retired from US Steel where he worked for 18 years as a millwright. He was also formerly employed at AKM/BJW/Honeywell. Ken enjoyed his farm animals and his pet dogs, Patches and Blackie. Ken also took pleasure in refurbishing and driving his 1930 Plymouth antique automobile! A veteran of the US Army, he served as a corporal during the Korean War.
Ken will be sadly missed by his loving family; his three children, Kevin Slonecker and wife Peggy of Connellsville, Kim Slonecker of Connellsville, and Sharon Jackson of Farmington; his four grandchildren, Jeremy, Angela, Andrew, and Brittany; his two great grandchildren, Abby and Sarah; his great-great grandchild, Brixton; and several nieces and nephews. I addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his two infant daughters; and his siblings, Charles and Elmer Slonecker and Catherine Friend.
Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 SPRING STREET, SCOTTDALE ( www.fergusonfunerals.com ). Family and friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Friday and from 10-11 AM Saturday in the funeral home chapel where funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday with Pastor Lee Maley officiating. Graveside committal service and interment will follow in Mount Olive cemetery. The Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard will bestow full military honors on Saturday prior to the funeral service. . Memorials may be offered to the Fayette Humane Society at 724-245-7815. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Amedysis nurses: Daisy Leslie, Shawna, Trina, Shanelle, Natalie, Michelle and to Dr. Paul Means for their loving care.
