June 25, 1942 – August 16, 2021
John H. "Homer" Trayter Sr., 79 of RuffsDale, (South Huntingdon Township), passed away at 4:12 AM Monday, August 16, 2021 in his home peacefully surrounded by his family. John was born June 25, 1942 in Reagantown, South Huntingdon Township, by the late Lewis and Alice B. (Mellinger) Trayter. He married Linda (Baird) Trayter on June 3, 1967.
John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and was a graduate of South Huntingdon High School, Class of 1961. He was employed by West Penn Power for 35 years, retiring in the year 2000. John enjoyed restoring his tractor, mowing the lawn, gardening, and trap shooting for East Huntingdon Sportsman where he was a lifetime member.
John is survived by his loving family; his wife of 54 years, Linda (Baird) Trayter; his children, Vera and husband Eric Rhodes, John Trayter Jr. and his significant other, Louise Franco, and Justin Trayter and fiancée Miranda Stahl all of RuffsDale; his grandchildren, Ida Grabiak and husband Josh, Von Rhodes and fiancée Alyssa Prinkey; his sisters, Joanne Moore and husband Charlie of Interlochen, FL, Donna and husband Billy Dyson of Cross Creek, FL; his brothers, Delmar Trayter and wife Frances, David Trayter and wife Meribeth, all of Ashland, OH and Ronnie Trayter and wife Sue of RuffsDale; his brother-in-law, Russel Byers; his sisters-in-law, Joni and Cindi Trayter of RuffsDale; numerous nieces and nephews; and his loving and loyal pet cat Boo Boo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his two brothers, Arthur and Edward Trayter; his sisters, Ida Byers and Margaret Wood and husband Claude; his grandson, Calin H. Trayter; and his daughter-in-law, Jillian (Cross) Trayter.
