Joanne Marie Prinkey, (Coughenour), passed away peacefully at her residence at 12:22 pm on Sunday, August 9, 2026. Born on June 14, 1954, in Connellsville, Joanne brought warmth and spirit to every life she touched over her 72 memorable years.

Joanne’s early days in Morrell were filled with the closeness of her loving family and a zest for learning, culminating in her graduation from Geibel High School with the Class of 1971. This accomplishment was the first of many milestones Joanne would achieve, a testament to her steadfast determination and kind heart.

After school, Joanne built a quiet but steady career, dedicating nearly two decades as a clerk and stock person at Walmart in Mount Pleasant. It was here, through simple acts of service and gentle humor, that Joanne made lifelong friends and created small moments of joy in the lives of co-workers and customers alike. Her reliability and unwavering work ethic left an impression on all who knew her.

Outside of her working years, Joanne found joy in the everyday pleasures that defined her gentle approach to life. She was a familiar and welcome presence at the Bullskin senior center, where her laughter and stories brightened even the simplest gatherings. Joanne found both solace and challenge in crossword puzzles, relishing the satisfaction of a completed grid. She drew delight from the playful competition of Dr. Mario video games, a pastime she enjoyed sharing with those close to her.

Central to Joanne’s heart was her family, a circle bound by enduring love and shared memories. She is survived by her beloved son, Matthew Prinkey, whose life has been colored by her nurturing guidance and unwavering support. She is also survived by her loving companion, Charles Armel, her brother, Arthur Coughenour and wife Cindy Coughenour, and her nieces, Alexa Coughenour, Lisa Ross, and Mia Brophy—each of whom carries forward Joanne’s legacy of kindness and fellowship.

Joanne’s passing is felt deeply by those who preceded her in death: her parents, George and Marie Lucille (Clifford) Coughenour, and her siblings Henry Coughenour and Mary Ross. Their memories remain inseparable from Joanne’s story, forming the cherished roots from which her own life branched and blossomed.

The lives Joanne touched will gather to remember her on August 13, 2026, at the Robert B. Ferguson Funeral Home, 105 Spring Street, Scottdale, PA 15683. Viewing and Visitation will take place in the funeral home chapel from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday followed by a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Tom Shirer officiating. A private burial will be held at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Dunbar.

Though Joanne is no longer present in daily moments, her memory lingers—in the laughter that echoes in recalled stories, the warmth of family bonds, and the simple joys she loved. Her gentle spirit, enduring kindness, and quiet strength will live on through all who had the grace to know her. Love Lasts Forever!
