Janet F. (Basinger) Shroyer, 75 of Scottdale, passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2018 at her residence.

Janet was born Nov. 10, 1943 in Connellsville, a daughter of the late Clyde and Clara (Smith) Basinger.

She marriedCalvin Marvin Shroyer Sr. in February 1963.

Janet was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Scottdale and enjoyed playing bingo, puzzles, coloring and crocheting.

Janet will be sadly missed by her loving family, including her husband of 55 years, Calvin Marvin Shroyer Sr.; her daughter, Brenda (Shroyer) Szczygiel and her husband David of Mt. Pleasant; her son, Calvin Shroyer Jr. and his wife Amy (Youler) of Smithfield; her five grandchildren, Calvin Shroyer III and wife Jeanne, Michael Shroyer, Felicia Young, and Thomas and Jackie Szczygiel; her great- grandson, Gavin Shroyer; her two sisters-in-law, Paulie and Jin Basinger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Todd Shroyer; her five brothers, George, Donald, Clyde, Robert and Harry Basinger; and her two sisters, Betty Richter and Mary Ellen Hixon.

Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of Robert B. Ferguson Funeral Home, 105 Spring St. , Scottdale ( 724-887-5300 / www.fergusonfunerals.com ). Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 10-11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with Pastor Kathy Barnhart officiating.
