Obituary

Jane L. (Ulichney) Lane, 88 of Scottdale, PA, passed away Friday, April 23, 2021 at Excela Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg.  Jane was born May 20, 1932 in Everson, a daughter of the late Andrew and Stella (Grabek) Ulichney.  She graduated from Scottdale High S chool and went on to attend The Pittsburgh Hospital School of Nursing.

Jane married Earl L. Lane, who passed away on November 29, 2005.  Jane was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She was a longtime and faithful member of the Parish of Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Scottdale and a former Executive Secretary with Southmoreland School District for many years.  Jane was a member of the Diocesan Board of Education, Beta Sigma Phi, and the Catholic Daughters of the America s .  She served on many hospital auxiliary committees as well as the local library committee.

She was actively involved in costume design for local schools and parish organizations.  She enjoyed hosting parties for family and friends, singing around the piano, and the sound of the ocean while sitting on the porch at the beach.  Her smile was infectious and her love for her family was by far her greatest accomplishment .

Jane will be sadly missed by her three children, Susan Lane Snowman (Dr. Whitney Snowman), Mark Lane (JoAnn Gratson Lane), and Dr. Gregory Lane (Dr. Susan Lombardozzi-Lane); her six grandchildren, Sarah Frederick (Robert Frederick), Elizabeth Snowman, Joseph Lane, Mathew Lane, Isabella Lane, and Gregory Lane; and her great grandchildren, Andrew Frederick, Gabriella Frederick, and William Frederick.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Phyllis Ulichney, and by her son, Thomas Lane.

Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the Robert B. Ferguson Funeral Home, 105 Spring Street, Scottdale (724-887-5300/www.fergusonfunerals.com).  There will be no public viewing or visitation.  Private burial will take place in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Cemetery, Everson, next to her late husband.  A memorial mass will be held at a later date.
