Ira Wade Murphy Jr., 61, of Dawson, passed away at 9:15 p m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, in Uniontown Hospital.

He was born April 27, 1957, in Connellsville, a son of the late Ira Wade Murphy Sr. and Ruth Ellen Liston Murphy.

Ira was a devoted father, grandfather, and brother. He was self-employed and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the post-Vietnam Conflict. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Ira will be sadly missed by his loving family: his two children, Todd A. Murphy and wife Tiffany of Connellsville, and Brandy Murphy-Basinger and husband James of West Leisenring; and their mother, Billie Jo Duckworth Murphy; his companion, Sandy Bittinger; his nine grandchildren, Ryan William Murphy, Paris Murphy, Hope and Faith Murphy, Cayden Basinger, Alyssa Murphy, Jimmy Basinger, Bentley Basinger, and Aniyah Basinger; his siblings, Connie Lama, Perry, Robert, Elvis, Clifford, Jeff, and Ivan Murphy, Ida Ruvo, Cindy Goodwin, Roxy Goodwin, Sandy Hallam, and Scarlette Murphy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received from 2-6 p m. Monday in the funeral home chapel, where funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, with Pastor Lee Maley officiating.

Private burial with committal prayers and full military honors will take place in Cochran Cemetery.
