Crosby, 91, of Scottdale, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015, in Jo-Ella's Personal Care Home, East Huntingdon Township. Ira was born Jan. 19, 1924, at Iron Bridge in East Huntingdon Township, a son of the late Ira G. Crosby Sr. and Ella Ridenour Crosby. He was married to Mary Catherine (Poorbaugh) Crosby, who passed away Nov. 9, 2005. Ira was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was the founder of Crosby Electric Company and a retired employee of West Penn Power, where he had worked for 38 years. Ira formerly served as superintendent of Sunday school and was a deacon at the Wooddale Church of the Brethren and currently was a faithful member of the Wooddale Bible Brethren Church. A veteran of World War II, he served as an aviation electrician mate 3rd Class in the Navy and was awarded the Good Conduct Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, and World War II Victory Medal. Ira was also an active and dedicated board member and treasurer of the Bullskin Township Fair Association. Ira will be sadly missed by his loving family; his five children, Robert Crosby and wife, Betty, of Acme, Dennis Crosby and wife, Carol, Harold Crosby and wife, Jackie, and Ira Edward Crosby and wife, Camilla, all of Mt. Pleasant, and Gloria Ciezadlo and husband, Herb, of Chicago, Ill.; his eight grandchildren, Chad Crosby and wife, Kelli, Crystal Case and husband, Aaron, JeniLee Schultz and husband, Matthew, Cassie Jellots and husband, Justin, Lauren Solosky and husband, Nick, Leah Owens and husband, Ryan, and Austin and Alexander Grimm; his 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Lee Crosby (1977); and his three brothers, Kenneth, Wayne and Zane Crosby. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with Pastor Gary Witt officiating followed by graveside committal services and interment in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery next to his late wife with full military honors bestowed by the Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post 446.
