Harriet Elizabeth (McGovern) Swank, 84, of Scottdale (Kingview), passed away peacefully at 12:34 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Harriet was born Feb. 22, 1933, in McKeesport, a daughter of the late John Robert McGovern and Gail (Johnson) McGovern Stull. She married Billy L. Swank Sr. in November of 1950. Harriet was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She retired from the Mennonite Publishing House in Scottdale after working for 35 years as a shipping clerk. Harriet was a faithful member of Apostolic Holiness Church in Connellsville and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was involved for many years with the Girls Club of the Mennonite Church and enjoyed helping at the World's Attic in Somerset. She also enjoyed traveling and cooking. Harriet will be sadly missed by her loving family: her husband, Billy L. Swank Sr., with whom she would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary; her three children, Robert Swank and his wife Saundra and Billy Swank and his wife Wendy, both of Scottdale, and Judy McBeth and her husband James, of Ruffsdale; her grandchildren, Jimmy McBeth Jr. and his wife Becky, of Tarrs, Jessica Provlic and her husband Bryan, of Mt. Pleasant, Becky Bowen and her husband Scott, of Hubbard, Ohio, Tonya Riggs and her husband Tim, of Latrobe, Penny Nickelson and her husband Tom and Stacey Domina and her husband Sal, both of Connellsville, Billy Swank III and his companion Jen, of Latrobe, April Shallenberger and her husband Mike, of Mt. Pleasant, Jody Swank and her companion Jeremy, of Scottdale, and Andrea Swank, of Scottdale; her 19 great-grandchildren; her three great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Daniel McGovern and his wife Mary Kay, of Allison Park; her two sisters, Flora May Copeland, of Crestview, Fla., and Cheryel Sechrist and her husband Donald, of Scottdale; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert McGovern, of Crestview, Fla. (1985); and her infant brother and sister, Thomas and Anna Catherine.

Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with Pastor Terry Upton officiating. Graveside committal service and interment will be in Greenlick Cemetery.
