Obituary

Glenn O. Cottom, 85, of Dawson, passed away at 8:49 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, in the Harmon House Convalescent Center, Mt. Pleasant.

Glenn was born Dec. 15, 1935, in Lower Tyrone Township, a son of the late Irvin J. and Maude J. (Strickler) Cottom. He also was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Tatterson of Annapolis, Md.

Glenn was a graduate of Perry/Lower Tyrone High School, Class of 1954 and served in the U.S. Army Reserves for many years. He was a self-employed trucker, not needing a GPS for direction. He was raised on the farm and also worked for various contractors through the years. Glenn really enjoyed his 1951 Ford convertible, showing it off the everyone he met. Glenn enjoyed gardening and sharing his crops with many and also took enjoyment taking trips to Wyoming and Colorado, many times bringing home his latest prize! He visited the state of Florida many winters for rest and relaxation, attending auctions to see what he could find.

Glenn leaves to cherish his memory his brother, Ellsworth Cottom and wife Jeri of Great Falls, Va.; his brother-in-law, John Tatterson of Annapolis, Md.; his sister-in-law, Linda Cottom of Dawson; and many nieces and nephews.
