Glenn A. Cavanaugh,

91 of Scottdale (East Huntingdon Township) passed away at 9:30 AM Tuesday, July 1, 2025 in RNC, Hempfield Township. Glenn was born July 5, 1933 in Scottdale, a son of the late Edgar E. and Velma O. (Stouffer) Cavanaugh. He married the former Catherine G. Hall on January 25, 1957 and they celebrated their 68th Wedding Anniversary earlier this year .


Glenn was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He graduated from East Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1951 and was employed for 35 years as a furnace operator at Anchor Hocking Glass in South Connellsville. He also worked as a

Delivery driver for the Laurel Group Press, Scottdale Floral, DeMuth Floral, and Hilltop Labs. Glenn was a

Longtime and faithful member of the former Christ United Methodist Church in Scottdale where he volunteered at spaghetti dinners and funeral meals. He also served as a crossing guard for Southmoreland School  District at Pittsburgh & Grove Streets for many years. A veteran of the US Navy, he served as a machinist mate 3rd Class during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the National Defense, China, United Nations, and Korean Service Medals. Glenn was a member of the Tin Can Sailors and the Scottdale American Legion Post. He enjoyed reading, hunting, camping, motorcycling, biking, and telling stories!


Glenn will be sadly missed by his loving family; his wife of 68 years, Catherine G. (Hall) Cavanaugh; his four children, Linda Millslagle of Mount Pleasant, Joyce Prutz and husband William of Mount Pleasant, Karen Bandemer and husband Les of Scottdale, and John Cavanaugh and wife Lori of Connellsville; his nine grandchildren, Jessica Henry and husband Keith of Chattanooga, TN, Justine Kern of Denver, CO, James Bandemer and wife Katie of Scottdale, Holly Millslagle of Colorado, Missy Giles and husband Jeff of Acme, Jacob Cavanaugh and wife Molly of Lemont Furnace, Zachry Cavanaugh of Connellsville, Julianne Prutz of Pittsburgh, and Kimberly Cavanaugh of Connellsville; his five great grandchildren, Charlotte "Charlie" Bandemer, Beckett Bandemer, Felicity "Cici" Bandemer, Tobias "Toby" Giles, and Hollyn Kern. In addition to his parents, he was preceded on death by his son-in-law, Kevin Millslagle; his two brothers, William and Robert Cavanaugh; and his sister, Goldie Giles.


Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 SPRING STREET, SCOTTDALE (www.fergusonfunerals.com). Family and friends will be received on Monday from 2-8 PM and Tuesday from 10-11 AM in the funeral home

chapel where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 AM with Pastor Shawn Robbins officiating. Graveside committal services and interment will follow in Normalville Cemetery with Full Military Honors bestowed by the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard.
