Obituary

Gladys A. (Broush) Zearley, 94, of Scottdale, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, at her residence, with her loving family at her side. Gladys was born Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 1925, at West Overton, in East Huntingdon Township, a daughter of the late William T. and Ella Marie (Forejt) Broush. She was married to Frank K. Zearley, who passed away Dec. 12, 2003. Gladys was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed working and was employed for many years as a clerk at Brilhart's Hardware, in Scottdale. Gladys was a longtime and faithful member of Calvin United Presbyterian Church, in Scottdale, where she served as a former elder. She loved spending time with her family, taking vacations to Rehoboth, playing scrabble, knitting and cheering for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Gladys will be sadly missed by her loving family; her four children, Dan Zearley and his wife, Susan, of Bethel Park, Fran Murray and her husband, Mike, of Wilmington, Del., Ted Zearley and his wife, Barb, and Mitchell Zearley, all of Scottdale; her six grandchildren, Mike Murray and wife, Diane, Kelly Griesenauer and husband, Jeff, Bethany Hauch and husband, Jeremy, Caitlin McCarthy and husband, Dean, Rebecca Mumau and husband, James, and Zachary Zearley; her eight great-grandchildren, Chloe Herbert, Julia and Michelle Murray, Josie Hauch, Maisie McCarthy, Myles Mumau, Joshua Hauch and Riker McCarthy; her sister and best friend, Audrey Randolph; her brother, William Broush; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Dorothy Tullio, Mildred Byrwa, Virginia King, Jack Broush and Richard Broush.
