Obituary

Gladys Gay King, 84 a longtime resident of Scottdale passed away peacefully in UPMC Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh at 7:15 AM, Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

Gladys was born January 26, 1941 in Hugheston and was raised in Nitro, both in West Virginia.

She was a daughter of the late Romie  Robert and Katherine Virginia (Dobbs) Frazier. Gladys married Richard M. "Dick" King in 1961 and he passed away on December 23, 1977. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Romie Robert Frazier Jr. and Donald Frazier and an infant sister, Virginia Frazier.


Gladys was a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister. She graduated in 1959 from Nitro High School, WV and a Medical Technician Institute. She was employed as an X-Ray Technician for many hospitals in Western PA over the years. She also served as an X-Ray Tech for Dr. Selim El Attrache in both Mount Pleasant and at Seven Springs, retiring in 1988 in order to caregive to her mother-in-law,

Irene King.


Gladys attended Church for many years at Bryan United Methodist Church, Scottdale Church of Christ, and most recently at Jacobs Creek United Methodist Church. She enjoyed singing hymns, Christmas carols, and praising God! Gladys especially loved watching Lifetime and Hallmark movies with her granddaughters and was a huge fan of Tom Selleck.


Gladys will be sadly missed by her loving family; her four sons and their wives: Mark King and wife Brenda of Tarrs, Dale King and wife Julie of RuffsDale, B.J. King and wife Amy of Scottdale, and Scott King and wife Lynn of Mount Peasant; and her sister, Rebecca of Atlanta, GA. Gladys cherished the time that she spent playing board and card games with her grandchildren, Joshua, Noah, Robbie, Elizabeth, Casey, Brady, Sherrie "Sheri", Shayla, and Shelb, all of whom survive her.

Family and friends will be received from 11 AM- 1 PM Saturday in the funeral home chapel followed by funeral services at 1 PM Saturday with Pastor Shawn Robbins officiating. Graveside committal service and interment will be in Cochran Cemetery next to her late husband. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to: Rhodes Cancer Foundation, 366 Wesley Chapel Rod, Scottdale, PA 15683. Love Lasts Forever!
